President of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Ivica Dacic he stated for the newspaper "Politika" that the SPS will go out on its own upcoming elections, as well as that they will have their own candidate for the president of Serbia.
He rejected allegations that there are talks with the Serbian Progressive Party about a pre-election coalition.
"In July, the main board of the SPS supported my announcement that we will stand independently in the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections and that we will have our own presidential candidate. It was unanimously supported by 500 people, as many as were present at the session of the main board of the party," said Dacic.
Submission of the list of candidates by August 25
He reminded that the SPS has been participating in the elections for a long time in a coalition with its traditional partners - United Serbia and the Green Party, and that this has not changed.
Within the SPS, he says, it was agreed that the municipal, city and district committees should submit lists of candidates for MPs, as well as candidates for the President of the Republic, by August 25 at the latest, since the presidential elections could be expected at the end of December or in January.
