The embassy was closed at the time of the attack.

Terrorist act
"The person approached the policeman several times and asked him something." Then it came back, opened the door of the house in front of the Israeli embassy where security is located, pulled out a crossbow from the bag and shot the gendarme in the neck," Dacic described the course of events.

The gendarme pulled out a gun and managed to shoot the assailant with several shots, who died soon after. The Special Prosecutor's Office is investigating the case in cooperation with security agencies.
Dacic assessed that "it is undoubtedly a terrorist act directed against both the state of Serbia and members of the gendarmerie."
The Minister of Police expressed his suspicion that the attacker was a member Wahhabi movement, that he converted from the Orthodox faith to Islam, that he was already known to the services, but he emphasized that this was all unconfirmed information.
He says that several persons were arrested as a precaution.
Security measures have been increased throughout Belgrade.
In 2011, the Wahhabis executed terrorist attack to the American Embassy in Sarajevo.
