Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic stated that members of the Service for Combating High-Tech Crime of the Directorate of Technology, within the framework of the European Platform for Combating Organized Crime, participated in the large international action "Mosaic 2024" directed against sexual abuse of children on the Internet, in the Western Balkans. A total of 63 suspects were identified, 59 searches were carried out and eight victims were discovered.
During searches in the territories of Serbia, Croatia, Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Slovenia, Montenegro and North Macedonia, 327 electronic devices were seized, on which materials were found resulting from the sexual exploitation of children on the Internet, shared through various applications and Peer2Peer networks, which will be further used as evidence in criminal proceedings against suspects.
Action "Mosaic 2024" is a continuation of regional and international police cooperation in the fight against abuse of children on the Internet, in which the actions of members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, carried out in the past few days in several cities in Serbia.
Criminal charges were filed against six people due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of displaying, obtaining and possessing pornographic material and exploiting a minor for pornography.
"The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues continuous and proactive actions aimed at protecting children and the most sensitive categories of the population," said Dacic.
