Vice President of the Main Board of the SPS Branko Ruzic he told N1 that there will certainly not be extraordinary parliamentary elections in the summer. He believes that SPS in the next elections, he should not come out in a coalition with SNS. As he says, it is especially problematic that there is polarization in Serbia, for which the government is mostly to blame - because of that, it would be best if the students won, as Ružić pointed out.
Ružić pointed out that it is important to think about what will happen after Vučić leaves power.
"I have expressed what I think on several occasions. I said that we should think about what will happen after Vučić - everyone has their own cycle in which they operate, but I am interested in what will happen after this regime. It is completely irrelevant what I think about Aleksandar Vučić, and what will be the opinion of the citizens in the elections, I think that it is the president's mistake that he took on a large burden through centralization with a bad personnel policy", said Ružić, who said that the aim of his criticism directed at SNS was normal Serbia.
"Then don't take us, if we're not needed"
Asked if he has the support of Ivica Dacic, he states that he has no answer to that question.
"You can't ask me that question. I think the fact that he is the president of the SPS is as important as the fact that I am one of the vice-presidents, and guided by those facts, I am trying to get the SPS to turn away from the path of losing its identity and to be much more independent and to try in this difficult time to return to its old ways," said Ružić.
The SPS must return to its original principles, says Ružić.
"These are not only the original principles, what is our obligation is to follow the original principles that sometimes due to objective circumstances, I think we can position them with reforms. I want us to think about the future," he points out.
He also referred to the statements of President Vučić, who said that the SPS was never needed by the SNS and recalled situations where the SPS played a key role.
"Vučić has loopholes in which he says, as he says that he didn't need it, I will remind you that there were elections in April 2022 and that the list of parties got 120 mandates, and the SPS had 31. They didn't have 126 mandates, did you need us then to form a government? That talk that we're not needed, so don't take us if we're not needed. Serbia needs us, not Vučić. Why did they call us for minority support? Kostunica?" Ružić asked.
Ružić said that there is polarization in society "which President Vučić supports the most".
On the humiliation of the SPS
"What is bad is the polarization of Serbia, I noticed that the president of all citizens, namely Vučić, did not learn from his political eye that it is possible to be the president of all citizens, at least formally. I have never seen Nikolić go to rallies, such things are not done because then you polarize society," said Ružić.
He also referred to the humiliations of the SPS that were discussed in public and said:
"It is a matter for some experts, politically I do not accept these humiliations. I have a problem when our president or the SPS is humiliated, is it the need to strengthen that coalition, because these local elections that were held say something else - that support is actually falling and homogenization is probably needed because the elections will follow," said Ružić.
When asked about the date of the parliamentary elections, Ružić states:
"The summer elections won't be certain, but I'm not exactly Baba Vanga to know what's in the president's mind. According to the calendar, they must be by the end of 2027, when they will be, it will be the result of the analysis of the president of Serbia, who will look at all the options on the table - slowing down of economic growth, the level of foreign investments has been halved compared to 2024, that trend continues, GDP is as it is, but inflation is 5,2. We have one slowdown that affects political decisions, and he will to take that into account", stated Ružić.
He believes that it is wrong for the SPS to be with the SNS in a coalition.
"I think it is wrong to be with the SNS on the list, I don't think it helps us at all, we will share their fate that we did not deserve to such an extent, I will not participate in that, but the party authorities will decide on that when the time comes," he pointed out.
