After the discussion in the Serbian Parliament, amendments to the Law on Local Elections were introduced. The members of the "Serbia against violence" coalition are divided on the question of going to the elections on June 2 into two currents with completely different views - one is for going to all local elections in Serbia, the other is for a boycott
U Assembly of Serbia the deputies are at sessions adopted amendments to the Law on Local Elections, which stipulates that all local elections will be held on June 2.
165 voted for amendments to the Law on Local Elections, 26 were against, two abstained, and 11 did not vote out of 204 MPs. The Assembly accepted that this law, due to particularly justified reasons, enters into force within eight days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
By the way, the session was scheduled on the proposal of 187 representatives of the government and part of the opposition.
In the explanation of the proposal to change the Law, it is written that it is adopted due to the dynamics of holding elections and sessions of local self-governments.
Thus, the deadline for announcing local elections will be moved from 120 to 150 days before the end of the mandate, and no less than 30 days can pass from the day of announcement to the day of the election, instead of 45 as written in the current law.
Yesterday's session
Yesterday's session, which lasted eleven hours, was scheduled by the President of the Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabić. The recommendations of the ODIHR and the demands of the opposition concerning the improvement of election conditions were discussed. The discussion was full of the usual vulgar fights that have nothing to do with the adopted item on the agenda and the mutual stinging of the supporters of the boycott and going to the elections.
The members of the ruling coalition pointed out that they showed good will and an essential desire for dialogue by fulfilling the demands of the opposition in order for it to participate in the elections.

Thus, the deadline for calling local elections will be moved from 120 to 150 days before the end of the mandate in order to ensure simultaneous calling of elections.
It was also proposed that no less than 30 days should pass from the day of the announcement to the day of the election, instead of 45 as written in the current law.
The ruling party and part of the opposition, which announced that it will go to the polls on June 2, announced that it would support the changes to that law today, while the Freedom and Justice Party, Serbia Center and the NADA coalition announced that it would not support those changes, because they believe that there will be no time to improve election conditions by that date.

Why is part of the opposition going to the elections under the slogan "I choose the fight!"
The six organizations that made up the now former coalition "Serbia against violence" announced at a press conference that they will participate in the upcoming elections in Belgrade and local elections together under the slogan "I choose the fight".
Members of the previous coalition "Serbia against violence", who voted at Friday's meeting for the proposal to go to the polls, will appear together at the upcoming one Belgrade and local elections on June 2. They will go into the pre-election campaign under the slogan "I choose the fight!".
They announced that they will reach an agreement on candidates and list holders and all other details.
The People's Movement of Serbia, the Green-Left Front, the Democratic Party, the Ecological Uprising, the New Face of Serbia and the Movement of Free Citizens voted for the election.
"Today we choose to fight." We are aware that the election conditions were not good, and they are not good today either. We know that SNS has no intention of giving up malfeasance, but we managed to make them back down and steal the elections again, and then make concessions," explained Radomir Lazović from the Green-Left Front.

SSP, Srce, Zajedno and the new DSS are boycotting the elections
On the other hand, the SSP, Srce and Zajedno remain in the boycott, believing that this is the best way to put pressure on the government and improve election conditions. In the opinion of the leader of the Freedom and Justice Party, Dragana Đilas, with this division into two blocs, the opposition betrayed the citizens who voted for them on December 17:
"I don't want to speak negatively about the people we worked with until yesterday, who I believe still want to change this evil that rules Serbia." I am sure that, if we had remained united, the government would have accepted the minimum conditions. From one thing to another they gave up, they would definitely accept what we are asking for in the end. There is no explanation for that, without me speaking very badly about the people I worked with until yesterday," said Djilas.

Jovanović: Election Farce
The president of the New DSS, Miloš Jovanović, assessed that there is no compromise regarding the farce since the election.
"The regime of Aleksandar Vučić undoubtedly represents not only the main threat to Serbian national interests, but also to the democratic order of our country." It is completely clear that there can be no compromise with them regarding the upcoming farce of the elections scheduled for June 2 in Belgrade, especially since the aforementioned regime has not shown any willingness to create the basic conditions for somewhat fair and honest elections. On the contrary, he continued, and probably intensified, the practice of voter migration, which the whole of Serbia could see for itself with the case of Mala Krsna," he pointed out.

Aleksandar Vučić now has only the old, proven methods of classic dictatorships left, because these modern methods of insanity and poisoning the public are failing. And that, however, goes against his head
Vučić is not defending the state, but himself from the state. With a drum on his back and a guitar in his hands, this man-orchestra performs two or three of the same songs without hearing, with falsifications and falling out of rhythm. His government and politics are like that. In short - dangerous for the environment
Arrests of professors, punishment of people, firing of journalists... The regime of Aleksandar Vučić is shining and is yet to shine. It is the decadent phase of the regime, the one towards the end
