Blockades across Serbia continue for the third Saturday in a row, although the tones between the previous organizers have become dissonant.
The ecological uprising led by Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta said that there will be no stopping until Rio Tinto is expelled from Serbia "once and for all", a moratorium is placed on the exploitation of lithium in Serbia, and that forty environmental organizations and movements in fifty cities and municipalities continue their blockades .
Ćuta scheduled a rally in Belgrade at 13 p.m. near the Sava Center and a one-hour highway blockade at 14 p.m.
Nebojša Zelenović from Zajedno za Serbia previously included in the list of demands the dissolution of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media headed by Olivera Zekić, and that "Nebojša Stojičević Jarin and Dušan Prokić and all those who issued commands and who led to the fact that the police in Šabac retreated, and the thugs pounced on the bare-handed people".
And the environmental activists from Novi Sad from the Osna organization added an ultimatum that national frequency televisions be opened to environmental experts and that the Loznica Assembly omit the "Jadar" project from the Spatial Plan.
On the other hand, the Kreni-Promeni association will not actively participate in today's protests, but will "support" comrades from other environmental organizations, said activist Savo Manojlović. He believes that the initial demands of the protest have been met - the Law on Expropriation was withdrawn from the procedure, and the Law on Referendum and People's Initiative was amended in the Assembly in accordance with the demands of the protesters.
Manojlovic, whom many consider to be the main organizer of the previous road blockades, explains their success precisely with the setting of two concrete conditions that are clear to all. By expanding the list of demands, the protests would become pointless, they would turn into a "jukebox", said Manojlović. He was against the "speech" and walks that the government googled.
Government representatives took the extension of the ultimatum as proof that the demonstrators were never focused on ecology, but on overthrowing Aleksandr Vučić.
Previous protests were joined not only by environmental activists and citizens concerned about the environment, but also by many people dissatisfied with the state of Serbian society.
As with the previous roadblocks, the success of the protest and the reaction of the state authorities will depend on the number of people who take to the streets.
Rain is forecast for 14 pm in Belgrade.
