As "Vreme" learns, members of the Security and Information Agency broke into the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments on Monday.
The reason is the information we published on Sunday that the expert part of the employees of this institution will announce an appeal today regarding the Serbian government's decision to revoke the status of a cultural property from the General Staff complex.
The appeal was written, but employees were forbidden to forward it to the public.
Members of the BIA spoke briefly with the deputy director Estela Radonjić Živkov, because the acting director Goran Vasić is not in Belgrade. Let us remind you that he was appointed to this position after the previous administrator, Dubravka Đukanović, resigned because she did not want to participate in the government's intention to revoke the status of the General Staff as a cultural asset.

"Now Aleksandar Ivanović is the acting director of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Belgrade, and Goran Vasić is the acting director of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, and one of them was even in favor of abolishing the status of a cultural monument from the General Staff building, but they are employed in those institutes , art historians, conservators and experts, against it. They were not even asked when the Government made the decision to revoke Generalshatb's status as a cultural monument, which was a decision adopted without the procedure that should have been implemented under the Law on Cultural Properties. The employees of the Institute wanted to release a statement to the public, but that information was apparently leaked, and the reason for the BIA's intrusion is most likely to put pressure on the employees," said Nestorovic.
