Truck driver Milomir Jacimovic, known for transporting students to protests for free, he was released from custody after today's hearing before the Basic Court in Novi Sad.
He was met in front of the courthouse. a large number of citizens and students shouting "pump", with a sign of support for the man who, according to them, suffered threats, pressures and material damage because of his solidarity.
Jaćimović thanked the lawyers and the gathered with the words: "Take care of the children. I will not betray you, there is no force. Everything is fine."
His defense attorneys state that the court rejected the Prosecution's proposal for detention, including house arrest, with the explanation that such a measure would further threaten his existence, as Jaćimović is a single parent. The prosecution has announced an appeal.
Jaćimović was detained after he tried to harm himself in front of the SNS premises in Novi Sad on July 1, immediately after his minor son was detained. He is charged with attempting to cause general danger and obstructing officials in their work.
Previously, he was the target of attacks several times - unknown persons damaged his buses, which he used to transport citizens to protests. Despite everything, he continued to support the protesters, which further cemented his status as a symbol of solidarity among protest participants.
