Students The Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTN) in Novi Sad declared on Friday, with almost 95 percent of the votes "for", that they were in favor of the proposal that students in the blockade demand the calling of extraordinary parliamentary elections of choice in Serbia.
It was published on the Instagram account of students in the blockade of FTN.
On the question "Are we, as students of FTN, in favor of students in the blockade demanding the calling of extraordinary parliamentary elections", 94,7 percent of those gathered at the plenum voted "for", while 5,3 percent were "abstentions".
Political analyst Dragoljub Anđelković reminds that there are faculties that support the concept of an expert government, and adds that because the FTN is clearly for extraordinary elections, students of all faculties, together with professors, should harmonize their demands and act as a whole.
"It certainly makes sense to aim for elections at some point, because it is a way to resolve the crisis, but it cannot be done with unfair elections such as Vučić would organize in such a situation, in which he would rig the results and which would serve as confirmation of his false legitimacy," Anđelković told "Vreme".
"A single story only benefits Vučić"
He emphasizes that because of this, emphasis must be placed on creating preconditions for the elections, "which means media equality and preventing Vučić from using state funds as if they were private."
"If the students predicted a fight for those prerequisites, and the prerequisite is the formation of some body that would conduct the elections, such as some form of interim government, then that path makes sense. However, accepting the elections under the existing conditions means helping Vučić to get out of the current situation," Anđelković warns.
If the students did not foresee the creation of preconditions for organizing fair elections, Vučić could abuse it and say that he met the students by announcing extraordinary parliamentary elections.
"Vučić would thus be able to appeal to a part of the students, which would encourage division among both students and professors, as well as a larger part of the opposition public," Anđelković says. "That's why it's not good to go individually with such views, but it should take place within the university and the views of students from different faculties and their professors should be harmonized, and only then come forward with a comprehensive view. Each individual story only benefits Vučić".
