Professors and associates of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade requested u an open letter to release all those arrested in Novi Sad as soon as possible, as well as to arrest as soon as possible all those responsible for they kill the innocent during the collapse of the canopy at the railway station in that city.
Professor of the Faculty of Philosophy Aleksandar Baucal tells "Vreme" that the mood of his colleagues shows that they do not think that this reaction is enough.
"At this point, that was what our academic community agreed upon and came forward with." Everyone had the need to express their position at least in this way.
"We are still thinking about and coordinating with other colleagues whether there will be any stronger interventions," Baucal said.
The interlocutor of "Vremena" notes that there is another topic that mobilized colleagues from the academic community.
It's about proposal for amendments to the Law on Higher Education, which introduces foreign faculties, but without any quality assurance procedure.
"It is seen as a strong blow to higher education. Which will lead to the collapse of quality. So that is also an additional element, but I think that most colleagues are concerned about the state of society and the fact that our accidents and tragedies are increasing. And they are taking more and more lives", says Baucal.
He adds that this is a key concern, because higher education cannot be preserved in such a society.
"So our battle for higher education also means a battle for a more normal society," concludes Baucal.
