Marjanović was detained two days ago, and his lawyer claims that yesterday he was denied the right to medical assistance, even though he came to the station with head injuries.
"He is alive, but he still hasn't been taken for an examination and a scanner, even though the doctors who visited him in detention stated that it is necessary for him to go to check his head injuries as soon as possible," wrote Pavlović.
He added that Marjanović is "confused and contused".
"The conditions of detention are desperate, it's dirty and fundamentally unconditioned. The head injury was not repaired, the bandage had to be changed and looked at, the emergency room doctors had no funds. There is a risk of bacteria if they don't take him away immediately," wrote the detained tweeter's lawyer.
What is known so far?
Marko Marjanović was arrested on Sunday (August 17) and detained for up to 48 hours. He is charged with assault on an official, his lawyer announced.
On Sunday, Marko's wife informed the public about his arrest, but she also said at the time that she did not know where they had taken him. A video of him being brought to the "Savski venac" police station was then published on social networks.
Although Marjanović was originally supposed to appear before the judge on Monday, in the afternoon of that day his lawyer received information that it would not happen after all.
Denial of medical assistance
As Pavlović announced, Marjanović had an appointment with a doctor on Monday to undergo a head scan due to the injuries he received from members of the Gendarmerie.
"PS Savski venac did not take him for control, and they just told us that he will be taken away 'if they judge that it is necessary'. This is a direct denial of medical assistance to which every person deprived of liberty is entitled," said the lawyer.
He also stated that he was denied the right to see his client, although access to a lawyer is an elementary right of every defendant, especially one who is deprived of his liberty.
"At the moment, we have no idea how he is doing, but it is clear that as soon as he is not taken to the doctor, he is not well," wrote Pavlović on the X social network.
He added that Marko Marjanović was taken into custody by members of the Unit for the Protection of Certain Persons and Objects (JZO). The commander of this unit is Marko Krichak, who has been in the public eye for the past few days the accusations of student Nikolina Sinđelić that after being detained he slapped her, hit her head against the wall and threatened her with rape.
Head injury
On August 16, Marjanović announced on the X social network that he had suffered police violence the previous evening.
"Last night at 22.40:XNUMX p.m., after the cannon fire, I turned away from the cordon to check how people got hit with a baton (or who knows what) in the back of the head. From the blow, I fell to the ground where our honorable and honest Gendarmerie kicked me and hit me with batons. Four buckles and bruises on my hands," Marjanović wrote and shared a photo of the wound on the head.
