In a public appeal, 25 members of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts accuse the President of Serbia of collapsing institutions, the media, the judiciary and the basic pillars of society.
Group of 25 members Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) she sent a public appeal in which they demand resignation President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić. As they state, Vučić is responsible for the systemic collapse of the country's key democratic, institutional and social foundations.
The statement, signed by respected experts and scientists, points to numerous problems that threaten the legal and social order: manipulation of the electoral process through buying votes and abuse of state resources, control over the judiciary, suppression of media freedom, abuse of public service for propaganda purposes, as well as excessive borrowing by the state without public debate and control.
Academics also point to the cover-up of criminal affairs, widespread corruption, non-transparency in the work of state authorities and the systematic collapse of basic social pillars such as education, health, science, culture and art.
"We demand the resignation not for political reasons, but for moral reasons, because of our responsibility towards the citizens and the future of Serbia. No individual must threaten the democratic order and the interests of the state because of personal or party power," SANU said.
