President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky he said that Russia carried out the biggest attack last night drones on his country, and that it shows the need for harsh sanctions against Moscow and additional punitive measures against the Russian oil sector.
Overnight, 741 airstrikes were carried out, the Ukrainian Air Defense announced on Telegram.
"This is an attack that says a lot - and it came at the very moment when so many efforts are being made to achieve peace, to establish a truce, and yet only Russia continues to reject all these efforts. It is another proof of the need for sanctions - harsh sanctions against oil, which has supplied Moscow's war machine with money for more than three years of war," Zelensky wrote on the X network.
As he added, additional sanctions are needed for those who buy that oil and therefore "sponsor the killing".
"Our partners know how to apply pressure in a way that will force Russia to think about ending the war, and not about carrying out new attacks. Anyone who wants peace must act," said the Ukrainian president.
Zelensky introduced new sanctions against Russia synchronized with EU sanctions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed three decrees imposing sanctions on Russian companies and individuals, or companies and individuals that help Russia wage war against Ukraine, which are synchronized with the 15th, 16th and 17th EU sanctions package against Russia.
The decrees were published on the Ukrainian president's website, reports Suspilne.
According to Zelenskiy, the 15th package of sanctions included individuals from Russia, Belarus, China and other countries, including Russian pilot Alexander Azarenkov, involved in the attack on the Ohmatdit hospital in Kiev, and the company for the production of combat robots, "Gumich LLC", reports Ukrinform.
The sixteenth package refers to individuals and companies from Russia, China, Turkey and a number of other countries, among which are the "Ratnik" Center, which deals with military-patriotic education in the occupied territories, and the LLC "South Fleet", which transports Russian oil using a shadow fleet.
