In the shooting that broke out at a school in Graz around 10:11, nine people were killed - seven students, one teacher, as well as the attacker who allegedly committed suicide, confirmed the Ministry of the Interior of Austria. In the meantime, two more victims died, so a total of XNUMX people died.
Sources from the police state that a letter from the killer was found explaining the reasons for the act, but for now there is no official confirmation.
The Austrian Minister of Police stated that 12 people were injured.
Chancellor Christian Stoker, in the first public reaction, asked that today be treated as a "day of mourning", without politics.
The government and the police have so far given very little information, while the public's reaction is sadness and despair.
Psychologists have repeatedly explained the pattern of radical youth violence as a combination of three factors: a current event as a trigger, the availability of weapons, and the psychological disorder of the perpetrator.
The newspaper "Klein Zeitung" writes that the perpetrator is a former student of this school who was 21 years old and never graduated.
According to a report in "Salzburger Nachrichter", the perpetrator had two weapons with him - a pistol and a shotgun. He shot in his former classroom.
He allegedly owned the weapons legally, and he bought one of the weapons just a few days ago.
According to the director of the state police, there was no previous police file on the perpetrator.
The suspected perpetrator acted independently and committed suicide in the toilet, according to the statements of the police, who for now refuse to speculate about the motive for the attack.

School evacuated
The school was evacuated around 11.30:XNUMX am. Students and teachers were transferred temporarily to a nearby concert hall. The students' parents were asked to contact the crisis team that was formed for information.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs appealed that private videos should not be posted on social networks, but should be submitted directly to the police, for which an upload platform has been prepared.
