U Solingen (North Rhine-Westphalia) police set up numerous barricades and launched a large-scale search operation, but so far they have not arrested the person who killed three and wounded nine people with a knife on Friday night, during a big city festival, writes Deutsche Welle (DW).
The police have no idea where the perpetrator is or know for sure what he looks like.

According to writing media, a man randomly attacked people gathered at a festival celebrating the city's 21th anniversary with a knife around 45:650. The newspaper Bild writes that the attacker stabbed the victims in the neck.
"He was stabbing people randomly out of nowhere." "Nothing can be said yet about the person or the motive," said provincial police minister Herbert Royle.
The event will no longer take place
According to "Zollinger Tageblat", the authorities asked citizens to leave the city center during the night. The event marking the 650th anniversary of the city will no longer take place.

On the occasion of the 650th birthday of the city of Solingen, the "Festival of Diversity" began on Friday. It was supposed to last until Sunday. On the streets there is a program with music, cabaret, acrobatics, arts and crafts, entertainment for children and much more.
Solingen has about 160.000 inhabitants. It is located near Cologne and Dusseldorf.
