Noelia Castillo Ramos was euthanized on Thursday (March 26) in the room of the rehabilitation center in Barcelona.
On Thursday evening, the Abogados Cristianos organization announced on the X network that Castillo had died by euthanasia.
The group said its case "points to serious flaws" in Spain's law on euthanasia.

A long-standing saga
Her case was one of the most controversial and followed cases of euthanasia in the recent European public. Noelia Castillo Ramos, a 25-year-old woman, won the right to end her life after a years-long legal battle that divided her family and opened a wide social debate in Spain.
Castillo Ramos attempted suicide in 2022 and suffered a spinal injury that left her a paraplegic. All this happened as a result of psychological problems she struggled with from early childhood and growing up with parents addicted to psychoactive substances, later stay in institutions for minors, and sexual violence and rape.
Although her parents protested against the euthanasia she requested, the court ultimately ruled that she had rights to it.
Her father opposed her request and, with the support of the conservative organization "Abogados Cristianos", launched a series of legal proceedings claiming that his daughter was not capable of making such a decision. A multi-year legal battle ensued, which further burdened the already complex family situation.
The case went through several judicial instances in Spain, including the regional courts, the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court, and all these institutions confirmed her right to euthanasia, emphasizing the primacy of personal autonomy over family opposition. The final hurdle was cleared when the European Court of Human Rights rejected her father's claim.
The family remained deeply divided: the father cut off contact with his daughter, while the mother, although she disagreed with her decision, decided to be with her until the end.
Noelia stood by her decision, stressing that she wanted to "go in peace" and end her suffering.
