Barely three weeks after the US and Iran agreed to a two-month ceasefire, the war in the Middle East flared up again.
The US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a new wave of attacks was launched on Wednesday evening Iran, a few hours after the US president Donald tramp announced this at a press conference in Ankara, where the NATO summit is being held.
"At the order of the Commander-in-Chief, the forces of the US Central Command began to carry out new strikes against Iran, in order to further reduce its ability to threaten free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. United States hold Iran responsible for the recent unprovoked aggression against commercial vessels and civilian crews navigating freely in a vital international waterway," Central Command said.
CENTCOM said on Platform X that US forces hit about 90 military targets, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone depots, naval facilities and logistics infrastructure along the Iranian coast.
The statement said that the latest strikes followed offensive operations carried out the previous night. During the night, explosions were first heard near the Iranian coastal cities of Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Konarak and Chabahar, according to the Iranian news agencies Fars and Mehr.

Iran retaliated with attacks on US bases in Bahrain and Kuwait and said that Trump's threats were not a sign of strength, but of failure.
Before the attack, the US Treasury Department withdrew a waiver that temporarily lifted sanctions on Iran's oil that was part of a memorandum of understanding signed by Washington and Tehran last month.
