Croatia: Won almost 400.000 euros thanks to his wife and barbecue

A citizen Croatia from Samobor won almost 400.000 euros in game of chance Eurojackpot, but he did not become aware of it until his wife reminded him to check the ticket, when she heard on television that a winning combination had been drawn in Samobor.

The lucky winner paid his ticket, which brought him 394.405 euros, at the point of sale of the Croatian Lottery in Samobor, and then, like many times before, he left it in his car and forgot about it, writes Zagreb's Večernji list.

He did not check the drawn numbers until his wife mentioned to him that a winning combination had been drawn in their town.

He decided to check the ticket at a nearby store where he went to get supplies for the May Day barbecue and his wife's birthday. The saleswoman checked the numbers and, not a little surprised, told him that he was the lucky winner.

Although the win was completely unexpected for him, he says he wasn't too excited at the time. He plays Eurojackpot regularly and always pays the same numbers. He says that he lives modestly all his life and that even after the premium he has no big plans.

"You spend what you have, and you don't spend what you don't have," he says.
