A man started shooting in the lobby of the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the event was taking place, and among the guests was Tramp.
A security guard was hit in the shooting, but according to Trump, he is doing well, as he was wearing a protective vest. Police say the gunman has been arrested and identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen of Torrance, California. Allen was said to have a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives.

A gun and multiple knives: Who is the attacker?
The BBC's American partner, CBS News, reports that the suspected gunman told authorities that his targets were officials connected to US President Donald Trump.
Citing two unnamed sources, CBS also said at least five to eight shots were fired during the incident.
The suspect has been identified as Cole Thomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, US media reported, adding that he is expected to be formally charged in court on Monday.
The police announced that the attacker had been arrested, and Trump posted a picture of him on the Truth Social network. Allen was said to have a shotgun, a handgun and multiple knives.
Trump: I wanted to stay.
US President Donald Trump, after the shooting, said that stricter security measures are needed at such events.
"We need a level of security that has probably never been seen before," Trump said, claiming that this necessitated a new ballroom like the one he is building in To the White House.
Trump said he wanted to stay for dinner after the incident.
According to Trump, at first he was not aware that there had been a shooting, but thought that someone had dropped a tray at dinner, since the noise was "distant".
Trump stated that Allen failed to get close to the door of the hall where the dinner was taking place. According to Trump, the gala dinner will be organized again.
Being the president of the USA is a dangerous profession, Trump said, claiming that attacks on him are "part of the job".
He also stated that he and his team were not aware of any threats prior to the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, stating that the attacker had to go through a lot to get to him.
When asked if he was aware of any threats or if his team had a prior warning, he answered in the negative, reports CNN.
Assassination attempt
Donald Trump was wounded in 2024, during an election rally in Pennsylvania in an assassination attempt.
Trump was then taken from the stage by members of the secret service, and the footage shows the moment when he makes a face, grabs his ear and drops to the ground, at the moment when shots are heard. He raised his fist in the air as he was carried into the vehicle.
Members of the US Secret Service shot and killed the suspected attacker. During the incident, one of the participants of the meeting was killed, and two others were seriously wounded. All three victims are men.
The attacker was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. This assassination attempt also brought a major upheaval in the presidential elections in America, because not long after it, Joe Biden, Trump's opponent, withdrew from the race. Many analysts believe that it was also a turning point for Trump's return to the head of America
Same hotel
The Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., where the shooting took place at President Doe's gala dinner with White House correspondents, is the same hotel where former US President Ronald Reagan was wounded on March 30, 1981, when he was shot by John Hinckley Jr. while returning to his limousine after a speech at the hotel.
Reagan survived but was seriously wounded when a bullet that bounced off the presidential limousine struck him in the torso, breaking a rib and puncturing a lung, the BBC recalls.
