Historic out-of-court settlement: For pollution with "eternal chemicals" $450 million
This is just one in a huge series of proceedings that are being conducted against the producers of the so-called PFAS, chemicals that are all around us today
The new government was to be presented by Baja Mali Kninja. He takes the microphone and starts with a guitar riff and drums - let's applaud for Prime Minister Djura Matsut, the man exists, listen, people, his voice! Greetings to brother Boris Bratina - he will fight for the highest ultra-right standards of journalism with the burning flag of the European Union! A standing ovation for Dejan Vuk Stanković, who will be remembered by pupils, students and professors - there is no grace with him, only force
Progressive the fair had a very appropriate name - "We will not give up Serbia". Who are Vučić and his partners not giving the land to? As far as is known, no foreign power is planning its occupation or annexation. Therefore, dear reader, the regime does not give Serbia to you and other citizens.
They have good reasons too. In the last decade, progressives have made Serbia their plot of land. They do everything they can think of on it, and more. How to give up mega-projects and mega-embedding? Can even dead drunks accept that the law applies to them too? And when it comes to the rule of law, it's just too much work for someone to dare to resuscitate it. Vučić and his team do not give such a Serbia to anyone.
And that's not all. As if it were their grandfather, the progressives are looting the national resources. They offer ores and buy "bursts" with people's money in order not to gain foreign patrons. They privatized and appropriated the judiciary, police, army and services. They educate their children in private companies, they destroy home education and higher education. In all of this, one of them is always "good" - in terms of money, privileges, positions, impunity, complicated living... For progressives, the sky is the limit in the country of systemic corruption. And now to leave it to the citizens? Come on please…
SAD MEETING
What the Serbia that the regime "does not give" looks like was seen at the Belgrade fair over the weekend. For daily wages, blackmailed, coerced or simply detained, members of the progressive electorate were unloaded on buses in front of the National Assembly. Few of them knew exactly what they were doing there. The commissioners simply told them: here's your burger, chew it, drink some juice, maybe some brandy, cry out of boredom and wait for the address of the head of state, who will tell you the same thing he says every day on television.
That whole sad gathering was a poor attempt to copy the student protest of March 15th. There is absolutely nothing under the heavenly cap to compare. It's not just about the number of people gathered and the way they got to the Assembly. If anyone's life depended on it, at the progressive fair he could not find even a milligram of enthusiasm, political interest, any attitude, will, joy... Everyone was waiting for the "shouters" and shouted the same as they did, waving flags for money, some of them rolled up two or three packets of food, a pack of water or plastic chairs - this too shall pass. It is hard to imagine a bigger political fiasco.
But this is exactly how self-celebration is as far as Vučić is concerned. He speaks, threatens, demands and orders - others listen to him. And when he's done, in a daze, they'll get on the buses and, if they're lucky, maybe no one will fight between the seats as they travel for hours through the dark night. Most of them did not know where they had gone or where they had come from. This is the real Serbia that Vučić will not give to anyone.
AND BEHIND THE GUITAR...
And while, after the end of the fair, Belgraders curse the tents of Ćaciland and the fence blocking the city center, a new government has arrived. All hope dies from its composition. It's a pity that Baja Mali Knindža didn't introduce her at the end of his performance - there was enough room on the stage.
Let's say, with a guitar riff and a drum, Baja grabs the microphone and goes - applause for Prime Minister Đura Matsut, the man exists, listen, people, his voice! Greetings to brother Boris Bratina - he will fight for the highest ultra-right standards of journalism with the burning flag of the European Union! A standing ovation for Dejan Vuk Stanković, who will be remembered by pupils, students and professors - there is no grace with him, only force! There are also well-known eternal ministers like Bata Gašić or Siniša Malog, and the others sing backing vocals in the choir. Hands up, let's go in alphabetical order...
And now seriously. No one expects anything from Dr. Macut's government - both Vučić and the public. The prime minister and future ministers will bend like reeds in the wind before the demands from Andrić's wreath. Their outbursts of ordered anger and repression are possible, but they are unable to return Serbia from April 2025 to October 2024. The numbness of society from the time of Ana Brnabić is over. That is why the new government would also have to take into account the warning of the President of the Assembly - "Who is hiding from his mother..."
In any case, Matsuto's cabinet is a forced interim solution. Although they also know how to last, it will be enough for Vučić if the new-old team from Nemanjina 11 somehow pushes through to Expo. Later, God forbid...
EXPERTS FORWARD,
THE OPPOSITION - STOP
But in this situation, what about those to whom the progressives "don't give Serbia"?
Here it is like this. Novi Sad students came up with a proposal for criteria for who could be a member of the expert government. In short: only those who have never been in executive or legislative power; god forbid that they are in parties or that they have previous party experience; they are also disqualified from participating in any organization if it has ever participated in any elections; they must be successful in their professions, experts in knowledge of state administration and management skills, moral, honest and with student support. By the way, before entering the expert government, its potential ministers must give written guarantees that, after the end of their mandate, they will not participate in the performance of political functions for the next eight years.
When he reads these propositions, one must ask himself whether it is an election for an extended convocation of apostles or a temporary body whose task is the organization of fair and honest elections? In the same way, where do Novi Sad students think they will find sought-after candidates? Is it possible that all the members of the opposition parties are infected and immoral people, unworthy of trust, ripe as pears for ostracism?
Maybe it's just the idealism of the girls and boys who have already put Serbia in so much debt with their perseverance, solidarity, intelligence and activities. Then again, it is also possible that in this way they want to avoid political pressures, intrigues and, above all, internal divisions.
PERMANENT COLUMN
Here is the obligatory part of "This situation" called "Hello, opposition, here is Serbia".
After a long negotiation, the anti-regime parties announced their project of a transitional government. It is a principled document, very broad, open to additions and harmonization. Since then, there have been very few letters and postcards addressed to the public and supporters.
There is only one answer to the question of whether the transitional government is a platform for uniting the opposition and when concrete proposals for activities and solutions can be expected. And that is that the opposition is still negotiating. How long it will be like this is not known.
Passivity is understandable due to the anti-party atmosphere in the rebellious part of society, especially among students. However, this is how the reason for the existence of the current opposition opens up. The fragmented parties are individually powerless, and joint performances are by no means out of their hands. There is no magic wand, the opposition will not overcome its problems overnight, nor will the students - and accordingly the public - embrace it. Quite simply, there are too many people within it who have been dehumanized by the regime, and a good number of them are paying the price of their misguided ways and unbridled ego.
There is nothing more to say, except for the following - in order to change Serbia, the opposition must first change itself.
And urgently.

Putin nevertheless received Vučić. If the latter is to be believed, Serbia will have as much oil and gas as our hearts desire. And a cheap one. I am afraid, however, of the folk saying "He who does not pay on the bridge, pays on the bridge". And if the situation could be even worse, this behavior of Vučić could "burn" all bridges and bridges towards the EU. And then there is neither the opening of clusters, nor the first 110 million non-returnable euros from the Growth Plan, nor European investments
Young people in Serbia, aware of their capabilities, knowledge and ingenuity in leading the fight for justice, shook the foundations of the system that anesthetized its citizens (their parents), narrowed the spaces for them to talk, divided them into "citizens" and students in the blockade and directly confronted them. But how did they manage to shake the foundations of the system? Precisely thanks to the attitude that their every action exudes: Is there anything we can't do?
Seseljization and pinkoization threaten to destroy the culture, identity and future of the entire nation. The defense of the university is not enough, but it is a necessary condition for the preservation of all those values
