The legendary rocker and frontman of the group "Riblja chorba" Bora Đorđveić died in a hospital in Ljubljana.
Bora Đorđević died after a serious illness, they confirmed from "Riblje chorba".
"Dear friends, it is with sadness and grief that we inform you that our friend and brother, Borisav Bora Đorđević, has left us. Rest in peace, our dear Boki," the band's announcement reads.
After severe pneumonia, Đorđević was being treated at the Clinical Hospital Center in Ljubljana.
He will be remembered as one of the most prolific creators of rock music and the creator of some of the biggest hits in this region, such as "Doll from the front page", "Good morning", "Look at your home, my angel", "Stay garbage until the end", "When the night falls" "...
Known by the nickname Bora Chorba, he was born in Čačak on November 1, 1952. Đorđević was the main vocalist and songwriter of the band "Riblja Chorba" since its founding in 1978. Before that, he was a member of the groups "Sunflowers" and "Early Frost".
Bora Čorba was one of the most famous musicians of the Serbian and Yugoslav rock scene, with a large number of fans, and an impressive and influential public figure.
After the Fifth Belgrade High School in Belgrade, he entered the Faculty of Law, and after two years of study, he tried to enter the Faculty of Dramatic Arts. He was not accepted for acting, but he managed to enroll in a theater organization, where he was a graduate student for a long time.
The popularity of the group "Fish Stew" was based on provocative socially oriented tracks, and Bora became one of the most controversial musicians in Yugoslavia.
After the release of the album Koza Nostra in 1990, Đorđević was accused of "insulting the working class of Yugoslavia", but the charges were dropped.
He was a member of the City Committee of the DSS in Belgrade, and after the political changes in Serbia, for a time he held the position of advisor to the Minister of Culture in the Government of Serbia. After a year, he resigns.
He has a son, Boris, from his marriage to Dragana Đorđević. He married Alexandra for the second time in 2009, whom he met on tour in the USA, but they divorced after four years of marriage.
Bora Đorđević is the winner of the Ivo Andrić Academy Award for the book of poetry Desolate Island. He has been an honorary citizen of Čačak since 2022.
He participated in the Belgrade Spring, the Hit Parade, and the Belgrade Parliament.
