Vlada Kosova agreed in principle with the international community to send the Draft Statute to the Constitutional Court for consideration by May 10 Communities of municipalities with a Serbian majority, the Albanian Post announced.
Before that, the General Assembly of the Council of Europe should vote on April 16 to support Kosovo's request to be admitted to that international organization.
It is planned that the Draft Statute of the ZSO, which was written by the EU, will be sent by the Kosovo government to the Constitutional Court on the proposal of the Minister of Administration and Local Self-Government, Eljbert Krasnići.
According to Albanian Post sources, this will be a condition for Pristina in order for the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to accept Kosovo as a member of that organization at its session on May 16 and 17.
The Government of Kosovo agreed to that move in exchange for membership in the Council of Europe, according to the Alobanijuan Post, as reported by Kosovo Online.
It is recalled that the necessary step required by the international community is the referral of the Draft Statute of the ZSO to the Constitutional Court, and not the decision of that court, which, they add, was stated in the report of Dora Bakojani, in which it is stated that "Kosovo should take essential and tangible steps to implement of all members of the agreements in Brussels and Ohrid, including the establishment of the Community of Municipalities with a Serbian majority".
That "essential" and "tangible" step will be sending the Draft for consideration by the Constitutional Court.
"If the Government sends the Draft Statute to the Constitutional Court, the procedures for membership in the Council of Europe will continue, and in the meantime, the court's decision on that document is awaited. "What will happen next depends on the decision of the Constitutional Court," states the Albanian Post.
