Pilot Davorin Pavlović (66) tragically lost his life on Saturday, September 4, during the accident of the plane "Zlin 526" at the Lisičji Jarak sports airport near Belgrade. On that occasion, a passenger on the plane, Aleksandra Šiljković (22), also died. The accident occurred during the performance of an aerobatic figure when, for reasons that will probably be determined by the investigation of the Civil Aviation Directorate, there was a sudden loss of altitude and the aircraft hit the ground.
Davorin Pavlović – Superdeka (1944-2010), was an experienced flyer and former military pilot. In his 45-year-long career, he made over 12.000 flights and spent an enviable more than 5.000 hours in the air. He had 45 types of aircraft "registered" in his flying license. He graduated from the Military Aviation Academy as a member of the 19th class and during his military career flew on "Sabres", "Thunderjets", "Eagles", "Migas"... Retired with the rank of colonel with a golden flying insignia as the most valuable award of the RViPVO of the former SFRY, "Superdeka " he continued to fly in civilian life, as a flight instructor and performing at air shows on restored old airplanes, in the colors and markings that were once wore during their career in "great Yugoslavia". Davorin Pavlović's flights, solo or in pairs or threes with fellow veterans on "galeba", "utva" and "kraguju" in front of the audience in Batajnica, above Ušće, in Novi Sad, but also at international events, caused both applause and nostalgia .
A week earlier, Pavlović participated in the annual meeting in Kostolac, about which we published a short report and a photo gallery:
On Saturday, August 28, at the sports airport in Kostolac on the banks of the Danube, the Ljubiša Veličković Memorial was organized for the twelfth time in the organization of the aero club of the same name, in memory of the former commander of the RViPVO who lost his life in 1999 in a conflict with NATO aviation.
The event was conceived primarily as a gathering and socializing of light aircraft owners and aviation friends, not as an air show, but rather as entertainment for the masses.
So that it was not all about landing, lunch and take-off and the occasional flying exhibition, two veteran aerobatic pilots Miladin Stevanovic - Cakana and Davorin Pavlović - made a great effort, the latter of whom, obviously not caring about his age, performed an extremely visually attractive and at times even an aggressive display of what he can do on the Czechoslovak-made "evil trainer master" aerobatic plane. And the old-timer jet "Galeb G-2" from the Belgrade aero club Galeb - all with a large logo of the national tourism organization, for which the pilot himself called it 'Air Serbia' - made several flights, one of which was a "wiper" at a very low altitude.
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces also paid their respects to the fallen commander by flying over his grave with four Utva 75 planes, led by Brigadier General Mirko Vranić, today's first man of the 204th Air Force Base in Batajnica.
