Film, theater and television actress Ružica Sokić died on December 19 at the age of 79, after a long illness.
She was born on December 14, 1934 in Belgrade as the daughter of a merchant and co-owner of the newspaper "Pravda" Petar Sokić (1893 — 1964). As a girl, she was a member of the Children's Radio-Drama Group of Radio Belgrade, and in 1958 she graduated in acting from the Academy of Theater Arts in Belgrade.
She first presented herself as an actress on the stage of the Contemporary Theater, from where she moved to Atelier 1962 in 212, where she played around seventy plays. In the early sixties, Bojan Stupica gathered a troupe of great actors in Atelier 212, which included Ružica Sokić, Slobodan-Cica Perović, Tanja Beljakov, Maja Čučković, Vlada Popović, Dejan Čavić, Bata Stojković, Bora Todorović, Taško Načić, Milutin Butković, and later Zoran Radmilović.
"She was difficult, but highly professional, a great actress, correct and honest in her relations with her colleagues. She loved her job too much for the taste of other actors. When I saw her in the play "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf", I also realized that I had to have her there. That play gave rise to two great acting names, Vlad Popović and Ružica Sokić - said the actor Petar Božović upon hearing the news of her death.
She also performed on the stages of the National Theater, Zvezdara Theater, Belgrade Drama Theater, Gardoš Theater, KULT Theater, Open Theater "Studentski Grad", Modern Garage, Theater "Slavija".
Hers opus is huge. She was also noticed on television (e.g. comedies by Brana Crnčević and Aleksandar Popović). A wide audience remembers her for her roles in around 180 films, television dramas and series: "A Whole Life for the Year", "Birth of Working People", "Singles", "Crafts". , "Love, ah love", "The sin of her mother", "The second Žika dynasty", "Happy people" - commercial and television roles. Among the roles in about 40 films, her most famous creations are in the films "Boxers go to heaven", "Bitter part of the river", "Yellow", "Republic of Užice", "The beach guard in the winter period", "Nije nego", "Sava mala ", "Ball on the Water", "Full Moon over Belgrade", "When I'm Dead and White", "Tight Skin", "Zona Zamfirova"...
For her first role ("Bitter part of the river", 1965, by J. Živanović) she was awarded the Silver Arena, and for her role as a street woman in the film "Zuta" she was awarded the Golden Arena at the Film Festival in Pula. She is the winner of acting awards Velika Žanka and Dobriča prsten.
In 2010, she published the book of memories "Passion for flying".
She led an acting class at the "Braća Karić" Academy of Arts (1996-2000).
