In addition to him, his girlfriend Edith Dima also succumbed to injuries, and according to La Tribune, they are victims of the incident, which happened on Saturday evening.
Authorities are not considering femicide or domestic violence as possible causes at this stage of the investigation. The investigation was taken over by the competent services of the state of Quebec.
"Investigators are currently on the ground to determine what happened," explained Louis-Philippe Ruel, a spokesman for the state of Quebec.
"We are meeting with witnesses and looking at cameras in the area. We are looking for more information," he added.
Neighbors interviewed by "La Tribune" said they heard several shots during the night.
Gavrilović had 14 fights in his MMA career, he won eight and lost six. He had his last fight in 2022.
