After 60 years, the Pančevački bridge is on the list of priorities for reconstruction, and according to the latest plans, part of the bridge from the seminary to the river will be demolished, and if funds are provided, the work should begin in 2025. broadcast by RTS.
"Roads of Serbia" say that a tender is underway for the development of a project to obtain a construction permit, and the assistant director of that public company, Miodrag Poledica, explains that everything will be done in phases.
"The goal is to build descending and ascending ramps on both sides, which will be connected to the existing system of city streets, before starting the demolition of the access structures," says Poledica.
The Pančevački bridge was opened for traffic in 1935, and was demolished in 1941 during the war. It was restored five years later. The approach structures were built in the 1960s and have never been reconstructed. The authorities will also have to solve the problem with numerous bars built under the bridge.
"Before we start work and get a construction permit, we will see with the owners of the buildings if it is necessary to expropriate some, and if not, then we will not touch them," Poledica said.
A tunnel from the Faculty of Economics should break out near the bridge, so due to the lack of space, new access structures will be built in place of the old ones. The city plan for the development of the rail system envisages the transfer of trams to the Banat side, so the planners will have to take this into account as well.
Officials estimate that the new part of the bridge should be opened at the end of 2026.
In just one hour during the afternoon rush hour, almost 6000 vehicles cross the Pancevac Bridge.
Tunnel to the Pančevo Bridge
Near the Pancevac bridge, on Ada Huja, there is a tunnel with two independent pipes, which could significantly relieve traffic congestion in Belgrade. "Vreme" previously wrote. It has been neglected for decades, and its pipes are clogged with weeds and feces.
If there was political will and reason, parts of Belgrade such as Karaburma, Višnjica and Mirijevo could soon receive a BG train.
"Citizens have already paid for these tunnels, and they can be used immediately, it is only necessary to lay the sleepers, the railway and build the above-ground stops." On the contrary, Mayor Šapić is working on the expansion of Mirijevski boulevard towards these settlements because there is a daily traffic jam here. When the huge Sunnyville settlement at Višnjička banja is finished, the congestion will be even worse. Of course, all this was done unplanned, and that's why we offer a solution - according to this well-thought-out plan from the 70s," said Đorđe Miketić when he was a member of parliament.
He emphasized that by extending the BG train line to Karaburma, Višnjička banja, Mirijevo, the mentioned settlements would be connected to the center and to New Belgrade, which would be reached in 15 minutes, not 45 minutes as it should be now.
