President Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS) Predrag Danilović will no longer perform that function in the Alliance, reported by Meridian sport, transmitted by Fonet.
Before leaving the celebration on the balcony of the City Assembly, Danilović greeted the national team members and the coaching staff and informed them that he would no longer be at the head of the umbrella organization of Serbian basketball.
Danilović became the head of KSS in 2016 and was re-elected in December 2020.
His mandate expires in December, but as Meridian Sport has learned, Danilović wants to retire earlier in order to finish the election process as soon as possible and thus enable the successor in the position of president to make a decision about the national team coach before the start of the new cycle.
During Danilović's official career, the national team of Serbia won a total of 27 medals.
A few days ago, seniors won Olympic bronze, world (2023) and European silver (2017), senior women were European champions (2021), and took bronze (2019).
Also, they were fourth at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, and sixth this year.
Basketball players made a golden streak at the world and European championships.
Among the numerous successes of the younger categories, the golds of the juniors at the European Championships 2017, 2018, 2023 and the silver won recently in Tampere, as well as the European silver (2017) and bronze of the Serbian juniors, stand out.
