The brightest summer meteor shower, Perseids, is about to reach its peak. Under dark skies with a new moon, the Perseids can produce between 60 and 100 meteors per hour.
The traditional "Meteor Shower" event will be held tonight and tomorrow (August 9 and 10) on the plateau below the Aval Tower.
This year, a bright Moon will partially obscure visibility at peak time, so between 10 and 20 meteors per hour can be expected.
During two evenings, visitors will have the opportunity to observe the spectacular Perseid meteor shower, but also to enjoy music, workshops, interactive exhibitions and an educational astronomy program, writes RTS.
The program is free, starts at 20:XNUMX p.m., and sky viewing lasts until midnight. The lookout point on the Aval Tower will be open to visitors until midnight, and tickets will be at regular prices.
Since the moon will be about 84 percent illuminated during its peak, some experts recommend waiting a week to see the shooting stars more clearly in the darker sky.
The Perseids will be visible in the sky until August 23.
