In September 2008, as a wetland bird habitat, Zasavica was declared an international Ramsar site. What's more, the European beaver was settled in 2004, and in recent years the reserve has become known as the habitat of old breeds of domestic animals, the Podolian beef cattle, the Balkan donkey and, first of all, as the largest breeding ground for mangulica pigs in our country.
