Croatian singer Marko Perkovic Thompson announced the "Together for the Future" concert, which he claims is "humanitarian", and which will be held in Vukovar.
A few days before the event, accommodation in Vukovar and its surroundings becomes more and more difficult to find, while prices have risen significantly. As a more favorable alternative, the Croatian media mention the possibility of spending the night in Serbia.
Five days before the concert, tickets were still available, the Dalmatian portal announced. The ticket price for the ground floor is 40 euros, while for the fan pit you need to pay 60 euros.
At the same time, there is no more affordable accommodation for two people in Vukovar for the night of August 28. In the surrounding towns, prices generally range from around 200 euros upwards, and in Tordinci, individual accommodations for one night reach 466 euros.
Free accommodation is hard to find in Osijek as well. Prices for two people start from around 227 euros, while some apartments cost almost 300 or 600 euros. Among the available offers, there is one whose price reaches as much as 3.965 euros for one night.
As a significantly cheaper option, the Dalmatian portal lists accommodation on the other side of the Danube, in Serbia. In Apatin, which is about 60 kilometers from Vukovar, it is possible to find overnight accommodation for less than 30 euros, while the prices in Šid, which is about 30 kilometers away, are close to that amount. Bačka Palanka is, according to the portal, a slightly more expensive option.
The estimated travel time from Serbia to Vukovar does not include any delays at border crossings.
Marko Perković Thompson's opus is mainly based on religious and national motifs, and he gained wide popularity in the early nineties, during the war in Croatia, with the song "Bojna Čavoglava".
His concerts have been followed by controversy for years due to the use of the greeting "Za dom spremni", which is historically associated with by the Ustasha movement, as well as due to the appearance of Ustasha symbolism among part of the audience. Thompson rejects accusations that he promotes fascism.
