At the proposal of the Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković The Government of Serbia submitted proposals to the National Assembly to determine the protection of four immovable cultural assets, which was announced on February 7.
Before that, in December, the Government of Serbia, on the proposal of its Minister of Culture, proposed to the Assembly to declare four museum objects as cultural assets, which the MPs did on January 28.
Coincidence
During his tenure as Minister of Culture, Nikola Selaković has not yet advocated for the status of cultural assets - in the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, they completed numerous proposals a long time ago for obtaining the status of cultural property, so they are still in the Ministry of Culture.
It is probably a matter of circumstances and not Minister Selaković's attempt to present himself to the public as someone who increases the protection of cultural property and does not abolish it, regardless of the fact that he is one of the defendants in the proceedings General Staff case led by the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, in which the legality of the decision to remove the status of cultural property from the General Staff is examined.
Therefore, on February 7, the Government of Serbia submitted to the National Assembly proposals for decisions that would determine the protection of four immovable cultural assets.
It was proposed that two archaeological sites, Dvorine – Hungarian Cemetery in the village of Banja i Mora Vagei, about 2,5 kilometers from the village of Mihajlovac, establishes the status of an immovable cultural asset - an archaeological site of exceptional importance.
It was also proposed to determine the protection measures, the boundaries of the protected environment and the protection measures of the protected environment of two immovable cultural assets of exceptional importance: the church of Saint Achille in Arilje, and the archaeological site Caričin grad.
It is expected that the deputies will vote on them at the first session of the National Assembly
Before that, as mentioned, the four museum objects became cultural assets of exceptional importance.
