Who is Nataša Gvozdenović?
Nataša Gvozdenović is a freelance journalist, theater critic and theater researcher from Novi Sad. She completed her studies in Serbian and comparative literature, and was professionally engaged in the Culture Department of Radio Novi Sad, within the Radio-Television of Vojvodina.
Her texts, reviews, interviews and contributions have been published in numerous media and publications, including Vreme, Radio-television Vojvodina, Al Jazeera Balkans, NIN, Politika, Sarajevo's Oslobođenje and the magazine Scena.
She is also the winner of the "Marko Kovačević" award, which is awarded by the Directorate of the International Theater Festival MESS in Sarajevo.
She is a member of the International Association of Theater Critics and a longtime collaborator of the "Critics' Caravan" project of the Association of Theater Critics and Theatrologists of Serbia.
The "Niko Garone" award, intended for journalists, newsrooms and media houses that are particularly engaged in the field of culture, was established in 2014 at the initiative of the PATOS Theater from Smederevo. This year's laureate was decided by a committee made up of previous award winners.
The award is named after Niko Garone, journalist and theater critic of the Italian newspaper Republika, who followed and affirmed the contemporary Italian and European theater and dance scene, as well as independent culture in Serbia and the region. He was the author of the publication "Nova lica Srbije" and the documentary film about the inclusive theater project "Nomad scena". He died in Rome in 2009.
