This year's 71th. Sterijino posorje, which takes place between May 26 and June 3, 2026, is entitled "Our Stories: Memories and Suffering." In his explanation, selector Svetislav Goncić wrote that even after seven decades since its establishment, the festival remains the most important theater event in Serbia. The selection is guided by the search for plays that are based on a strong dramatic text, establish a lively relationship with the present day and communicate with the audience directly, emotionally and recognizable.
A performance "My Theatre", in which the director examines himself in the theater and in art, is unique in its form, theme and issues it deals with. This self-reflective research approach, through confronting the author himself with his own memories, memories and actors on stage, creates a completely new "my theater". The ritual of stage maturation and growth of the artistic soul, bravely and deeply intimately, and above all honestly, on stage becomes universal and important for everyone, because it concerns all of us who are searching for an answer to the question of who we really are. "My theater" is a confirmation of the truth of the theater ritual - nothing can be hidden on stage - wrote the selector.

Sterija's Theater was founded in 1956 in Novi Sad on the occasion of the anniversaries of the birth and death of the great Serbian comedian Jovan Sterija Popović. In the beginning, it was dedicated primarily to his works, and later it developed into a central festival of national drama and theater, which represents the most outstanding achievements of theater art from Serbia and the wider region. Today it is considered one of the key reference points of the theater space of the former Yugoslavia.
