On Thursday, July 30, the Serbian Ministry of Culture announced the results Competition for financing or co-financing projects in the field of music.
The contest was announced on February 25 and lasted until March 30. The deadline for publishing the results was not specified in the competition, but the law states 60 days.
This means that the mentioned results were delayed by two months.
Cultural Competition Fund
375 applications were received. The competition fund was 55.950.000,00 dinars.
That amount was divided into 41 music festivals and events, 23 concert sessions, 10 individual projects, and five master seminars, workshops and competitions. When you add it all up, it turns out that the Ministry of Culture chose to financially support 79 projects. The rest were rejected.
The members of the Commission chosen by the Ministry to do this work were Jelena Cvetić, president and member, and members Oliver Njego and Uroš Dojčinović.
A cursory look at their chosen ones, and especially at those they rejected, tells what the Commission considered a public interest that deserves to be supported by the state.
For Bemus, less than the Savamal concert
The biggest premiums, 3,000.000 dinars each, went to "Mokranjčev dani" in Negotin and Gitar Art Festival in Belgrade.
Bemus received less than them - 2,000.000 dinars, but the same amount as the Zaječar Guitar Club and the Guarnerius Cultural Institution for Jovan Kolundžija's concert tour in 12 cities in Serbia.
Bemus earned less than the company for music, stage and TV production Touchsound, doo Belgrade, which received 2,200.000 dinars for the "Savamal concert" and for the music-drama program "When the soul dances, and the heart hurts".
Dušan Skovran of the Belgrade String Orchestra received 500.000 dinars for the 61st concert season, the same amount as the Center for Music Education Vojka for the project "Serbian woman - lyrics and identity in a new sound", and less than the Center for Musical Innovation Shirkan Music, which received 600.000 dinars for the project "Look for me in the suburbs".
Kolarac and Čukafest
800,000.00 was allocated to the Ilija M. Kolarc Foundation for the "Kolarac Your World of Music" project, the same amount as the Jet Klock Association for the "Chukafest 12" festival.
Here are just two more examples: The Ministry of Culture estimated that the PR Agency for performing arts "Nocturno" from Kragujevac deserves 1,500.000 dinars for the project "I'll tell you with a song", as well as that the Center for Multimedia Art and Communication Tangram from Belgrade should receive 1,600.000 dinars for the projects "The End of My Sadness", a concert in memory of Beti Đorđević and "Evergreen Fest".
Selection from the rejection list
There are many names with confirmed renown on the rejected list.
We choose at random: Nishville (both projects were rejected), 30th International Choir Festival, Naisus Youth Philharmonic, Association of Composers of Serbia, Faculty of Music Arts Belgrade for two festivals, Association of Music Artists of Serbia, Academic KUD "Španac", Cultural Center of Belgrade for the International Organ Festival, Serbian National Theater, Academy of Arts Novi Sad....
But, regardless, these results did not surprise anyone. There was no reason for them to be any different than those of the previous 12 years.
