The fact that Ministry of Culture even to this day, it has not announced the results of all competitions for co-financing projects in culture, nor has it explained why there are none, and since December has started, it is possible to interpret that there won't be any this year. At least not for everyone..
What are the consequences of this do not need to be listed separately, and they concern the survival of contemporary creativity and their authors, which will have a disastrous effect on the cultural scene in the coming and following years.
According to the law, which states that the results have to be published 60 days after the end of receiving the projects, all tenders should have been completed at the end of March or the beginning of April.
Results for 12 competitions
The first results were published only in the middle of September, and for projects in only seven competitions: in the field of artistic performance, translation of Serbian works abroad, Cities in focus, for capital works of publishing activity that are published in Cyrillic, manifestations and prizes in literature, projects in the field of music, and for projects in the field of digitalization of cultural heritage.
In October, the results of another competition were announced, for the financing or co-financing of projects in the area of protection of old traditional crafts and their modern application.
And in November, four more: for the purchase of publications for libraries, for the creativity of people with disabilities, for periodicals, and for capital works of publishing activity published in Cyrillic.
All these competitions were announced at the end of last year, 28 in total.
The results of another 16 competitions are not known. It is not even known why the results of the mentioned 12 and not some others were published. If they were chosen by importance, how was it measured who is more and who is less important?
For Venice – urgent
Let's cite one positive example: on September 6, it was published Public competition for a project proposal to represent the Republic of Serbia at the 61st Art Biennale in Venice. The deadline for submission of works was October 6, and the decision on the selected project was signed by the Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković already on November 26.
Insiders say that this efficiency was motivated by the deadline for submission of applications for the Biennale.
To represent us at the Biennale in Venice, Predrag Đaković from Prague was chosen, whom the public said was unknown in Serbia, and for his project, which will represent contemporary art and the thought of Serbia, it does not belong to contemporary art.
