Less than a day after, on December 15, the news arrived in Serbia that the investment firm Affinity Partners owned Jared Kushner withdraws application from the contract on the construction of Trump's hotel in Belgrade on the area where it is now located General Staff complex, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić told the people that it was a great loss for Serbia.
"We lost an exceptional investment, worth at least 750 million euros. The total property damage caused to us by the blockaders and the prosecutor's office is no less than one and a half billion in various ways," said Vučić.
March last year
When, in March of last year, two months before Goran Vesić, the Minister of Construction at the time, signed a contract on behalf of Serbia with Kushner's company, the "New York Times" announced that Jared Kushner's company should lease the site of the bombed General Staff for 99 years free of charge, he stated that the investment would be worth 500 million dollars.
Translated into euros, 500 million dollars is about 460 million euros.
During this year
This year, mainly due to increased criticism from the professional public due to the announced demolition of the General Staff cultural monument, local politicians talked about Trump's hotel to the public as an investment of 650 million euros.
Jovanov and Djuka
As soon as Kushner stepped down, the price went up. In the Parliament, Milenko Jovanov spoke angrily about one and a half billion euros, and Vladimir Đukanović wrote on X that the loss was over one billion dollars.
None of them explained why there was such a price increase from last March until now, not even President Aleksandar Vučić.
Albanija
But that's why they all used every convenient opportunity to emphasize that now Albania got all that money instead of Serbia, because Kushner will build there what he wanted to build here.
"Trump will invest in Albania as already announced, he will invest over one billion dollars, he will build complexes, magnificent centers there, and Shiptari will significantly improve their position," wrote Vladimir Đukanović.
Kushner has been preparing the construction of a hotel complex on the island of Sazan, a former Albanian military base, since last year - he received approval for the project from the local government in December last year.
So that project was not created because the General Staff failed.
The question is whether it will survive, given that the Office of the Special Prosecutor has opened an investigation into several officials suspected of being involved in corrupt practices related to construction on Sazan Island.
Information about this is available in the media. And the truth is known. And yet, both local politicians and the president of Serbia say that the blockaders-traitors are working against Serbia, and in favor of Albania.
