Belgrade Gallery Novembar will be the only participant from Serbia at one of the most prestigious cultural manifestations ArtAthina (ArtAthina) in Greece.
Works by Brankica Žilović, Jovan Matić and Tadija Janičić will be presented.
Novembar gallery explains that ArtAtina is a fair that brings together leading galleries, artists, collectors and curators from Greece and abroad, creating space for the exchange of ideas and connecting the local and international scenes. They note that this fair was founded in 1993, and that the participation of Novembar gallery as the only gallery from Serbia represents a significant step in the international affirmation of the gallery, as well as an opportunity to present the contemporary art scene of Serbia and the region to the Greek audience and professionals from all over the world.
Srđan Šaper, the founder of Novembar gallery, says that in Athens they are presenting the works of three artists who, in his opinion, "represent a different and very original view of the world we live in. I believe that these successful artists convey an optimistic message about Serbia with their work, one that speaks the language of freedom, creativity and openness to the world".
The exhibition in Athens was arranged by Mia David, art director and curator of Novembar Gallery.
She says that the opening of the fair was extremely well attended with the presence of the mayor of Athens and the Greek Minister of Culture and emphasizes that the interest in our artists, as well as in Serbian contemporary art, was great.
Jovan Matić, one of the three selected artists, says that for him ArtAtina represents an important international step forward and a symbolic moment between his stay in Japan and going to London for postgraduate studies and adds that his "works were exhibited in November gallery during the summer as a synthesis of my previous work, and now in Athens they gain a new dimension in an international context" and points out that "at a time when it is not easy to deal with culture, the dedication offered by November has a special value."
