By decision Gordana Vujovic acting director Museum of Yugoslavia, the Summer in Muzey program was discontinued.
Without explanation, Vujović canceled the screening of the film "Bloom - Masters of the future" directed by Jasmila Žbanić, the last event planned for the Summer at Muzej, which is one of the most visited programs of the Museum of Yugoslavia.
The story of Bloom
Summer at Muzey has existed for nine years, and with various cultural events it affirms the Museum as a place for socializing and entertainment, exploring new possibilities of interpretation of Yugoslav heritage. It always starts on May 25, and until the end of the summer there are several programs.
According to the plan, Summer was supposed to end this year with the film "Bloom - The Masters of Your Future" by Jasmila Žbanić, which thematically fully corresponds to the Museum of Yugoslavia.

It is a documentary about Emeric Blum, who after the Second World War, in rural Bosnia and Herzegovina, started "Energoinvest", a global company with billions of dollars in profits that operated according to a self-management model in which workers made decisions and shared profits. Through interviews and archival material, the film depicts Bloom's visionary leadership, whose method now seems like science fiction.
Jasmila Žbanić's film "Bloom - The Masters of Your Future" (2024) was a Bosnia and Herzegovina candidate for the Oscar, last February it was shown in New York at the Museum of Modern Art, it participated in Belgrade's Beldocs... but it was not good enough for Summer at Muzej.
Decision without explanation
Gordana Vujović did not explain this decision, although the employees asked her to. It is assumed that the director did not respond to her because of her views on the genocide in Srebrenica.
As stated by the Syndicate of the Museum of Yugoslavia on its Instagram profile, "the decision was not accompanied by any reasoned explanation, despite repeated inquiries by the project coordinator, head of department, coordinator for international cooperation and the Museum's Expert Council".
Such "unreasonable and sudden actions" violate the autonomy in work and the author's integrity of the employees, warns the Union.
As they point out, this prevents the implementation of the activities foreseen in the Work Program for 2026, which the Museum is obliged to implement.
"Finally, the established and future collaborations, and thus the professional reputation of the institution, are directly threatened," said the Syndicate of the Museum of Yugoslavia.
Government decision
Gordana Vujović was appointed acting director of the Museum of Yugoslavia by decision of the Government of Serbia this May. The decision was met with disapproval of the entire collective, especially due to the fact that the Board of Directors of this museum last July, 60 days before the end of the mandate of the director Neda Knežević, sent a request to the Ministry of Culture to give them permission to announce a competition for the selection of a director. Before that, Gordana Vujović had no work experience in a museum. She came to head the Museum of Yugoslavia from the Ministry of Culture, and graduated in sculpture from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.
