Feature film Excursion is a Serbian candidate for the Oscar award.
The news about this was published yesterday by many media, but not the Film Center of Serbia (FCS), which is in charge of choosing our representative at the Oscars. Namely, FCS published that news on its website, but soon withdrew it.
FCS couldn't tell us why or anything about it. Unofficially, it is heard that the approval of the Ministry of Culture is awaited.
About "The Trip"
Excursion is a black-and-white drama based on the 1957 novel of the same name by the painter, writer and director Mica Popović.

The director is Nenad Pavlović, the script was written by Jovan Popović, and the producers are Predrag Popović and Miloš Đukelić. Stefan Vukić, Milena Radulović, Dragan Bjelogrlić, Predrag Miki Manojlović, Radoslav Milenković, Milena Pavlović, Denis Murić and others play in the film. Co-producers are Serbian company Digimedia and British Buca Productions.

There were five films in the competition for the Serbian representative at the 99th award ceremony of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the category of the best international film.
No national history films

Films for this competition are proposed by their producers and selected by a commission chosen by the FCS.
The most visible change in this competition is that there is not a single film among them that deals with national history, as was the practice until now. How was the vote?
The president of this year's commission was Zorica Stojinović, a journalist and editor of the Film Program of KC Jagodina, and the members were screenwriter, producer and director Miloš Avramović, editor Aref Zaabi, writer Miloš Janković, screenwriter Kosta Peševski, film critic and screenwriter Saša Radojević and director of photography Miloš Spasojević.
They remained in the second round of voting Excursion i Winds, play with me., and Izlet was chosen unanimously.
According to the assessment of the commission members Excursion is a film of exceptional visual aesthetics and artistic direction, which brings an intimate film story, globally and humanly recognizable.
"From the background, the film gives a discreet but clear ideological stance. The choice of music based on the Serbian interpretation of American blues and folk creates an intriguing tone. The acting and the atmosphere of the film derive from the director's clear vision." Excursion as a film with the aforementioned trump cards, it will be a dignified and representative representative of Serbia in the race for the Oscar award," the commission's explanation states.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce the Oscar nominations on January 21, 2027.
