The art gallery "Nadežda Petrović" in Čačak presents the exhibition "Božidar Prodanović: the mystery of real scenes", on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of this great painter, from December 17. The author of the exhibition is Mirjana Racković, museum advisor".
Celebrating this jubilee The gallery announced last year, when it was actually the centenary of the birth of Božidar Prodanović, "but due to the extensive program during the year in which Čačak was the Capital of Culture of Serbia, we were not able to dedicate ourselves to his work as it deserves", Mirjana Racković tells the "Vremena" portal.

He explains that the family gave them 446 works of art by Božidar Prodanović for their care - paintings, drawings, watercolors, graphics, mosaics and sketches for mosaics from all periods of the artist's creativity.

"Prodanović was born in Pranjani - it's a place that, in truth, is between Čačak and Gornji Milanovac, but whose inhabitants gravitate more towards Čačak, he went to the Čačan Gymnasium, he actively participated in the founding of the art manifestation Nadežda Petrović Memorial and then the Gallery, he was member of the organizing committee, he exhibited at several Memorial exhibitions and independently in the Gallery, and after his death we continued our friendship with his son, also a painter, Milet Prodanović", says Mirjana Racković.
For this exhibition, she chose 66 exhibits: a selection of Prodanović's paintings "from all periods, meaning from the Second World War until 2002. Among them, portraits and landscapes predominate, these are two of Prodanović's important themes".
Also, the exhibition includes "examples from other segments of his creativity", explains the author of the exhibition, and announces that "each of them will have a study analysis and then a presentation. We will start with graphics," the author says.

Mirjana Racković says that "of course", they are thinking, "we are also looking for a suitable venue for hosting in Belgrade, because Božidar Prodanović was a resident of Belgrade after all."
The exhibition will also promote the monograph of the same name, which the Gallery realized with the Museum of the Rudnica-Takov region, which is also the heir to Prodanović's legacy. The 340-page monograph analyzes the artist's oeuvre, and along with four texts, reproductions of paintings from the family collection and both legacy collections have been published.
The exhibition is open until the end of February next year.
