The Belgrade Festival of European Literature is one of the most visited literary events in Serbia. On Tuesday, June 2, the 15th time will begin, in a somewhat changed and supplemented format.
Namely, at a time when conversations are rare and culture is marginalized, the Belgrade Festival of European Literature has decided to present three panels dedicated to important issues of literature and culture, while during the fall it will present several significant contemporary European writers - which is why it was founded and what it has been doing all the previous years.
During the three-day program, the audience will be able to follow three panels dedicated to the history of a book, the history of an institution and the history of a reception.
Kiš, PEN Center, Dante
The Belgrade Festival of European Literature begins on June 2 with a panel dedicated to the novella book by Danilo Kish Tomb for Boris Davidovich.
Published fifty years ago, Tomb for Boris Davidovich is one of the most famous and most translated books by Danilo Kish. It is a landmark book in Kiš's oeuvre: it opened the novelistic cycle of the writer's literature in which the meeting of historical facts and extraordinary imagination captivates, it gave rise to the most important polemic in modern Serbian literature, it is the book that made Kiš an indisputable modern classic. The participants of this panel are Milena Đorđijević, Dragan Bošković and Gojko Božović.
The following day, a panel dedicated to the centenary of the Serbian PEN Center will be held. Created as one of the first PEN centers in Europe, the Serbian PEN center gathered the most important Serbian writers of the time, being both accepted and challenged. The centenary of this organization is an opportunity to discuss not only its history, which is a significant part of the history of modern Serbian literature and culture, but also the trials that PEN faces in the modern moment. Vida Ognjenović, Vladislav Bajac and Gojko Božović will speak on the panel about the Serbian PEN Center.
The Belgrade Festival of European Literature ends on June 4 with a panel dedicated to the history of a reception.
Capital Serbian edition of Dante's writings New life i Feast, as well as a series of songs thematically related to With a new life, is an occasion to look at the literary and cultural echoes of one of the fundamental works of European literature and culture from a contemporary point of view. The participants of this panel are Snežana Milinković and Nataša Gavrilović, while the moderator is Marija Nenezić.

Some of these programs were the most attended literary events in Belgrade in this decade.
