The second edition of the Balkan Festival of Film Directing (June 10-14, Belgrade) will show 21 productions of contemporary films from the region, visible also in the world.
In addition, and this is the exceptionality of this year's edition of the Balkan Festival of Film Directing (BFFR), is the initiative to establish the first independent Balkan Film Fund in which all relevant film associations of the Balkans will participate.
It goes without saying that for authors from Serbia, where there has been no competition for a film for two years, this kind of fund will mean an important chance.
With the help of friends
He is the initiator of the Balkan Film Festival director Darko Bajić, and the festival is organized by his production company "Magicna linija" with the help of friends.
Both last year and this year, the Ministry of Culture did not allocate a single dinar for this festival. "Times are extremely difficult in the financial sense. However, we did not for a moment think of skipping this year's edition. Film producers came to meet us, and colleagues from the region also helped," Darija Bajić, BFFR producer, told reporters.

The festival will be opened in the Open Air Cinema in Rajićeva with the presentation of the "Živojin Žika Pavlović" award for life's work to the famous director Lordan Zafranović and the screening of the film Excursion Nenad Pavlović, who is out of competition for awards. The screen will be placed in front of TC Rajićevo, at the end of Knez Mihailova Street, and the entrance is free.
Three festival programs
Darko Bajić, selector of the main competition program "Awakening of the Balkans", chose eight films from six countries with the intention of presenting "brave, critical and strong voices and visions of the authors", which are "full of emotions and passion as they try to perceive the time and world we live in". Some of them will have their Serbian premieres, and some have already won awards at world festivals.
Bajić mentioned that stories about women are in the foreground, so that's it Bear Cave deals with the problem of women's freedom, Pati is a female name deals with the issue of equality, both are from Greece, and the Bulgarian film Lust examines how much the women got with this, or whether they just added new ones to their old obligations, while Fantasy follows the emotions of young girls in the chaos of the modern world.
"Nevertheless, we also have a male side on the program, which is 'defended' by the other four films, so my selection is actually a dialogue", Bajić added.
Those are Yugo Florida Vladimir Tagić and How is it so green here? Nikola Ležaić from Serbia, Fantasy Slovenia, One of those days when Heme dies from Turkey, and Picture Nikola Vukčević from Montenegro.
The selector of the international competition program "Mysteries of Film", director Uroš Tomić, reminded that the program was inspired by the work of the famous director Dušan Makavejev and includes works from various parts of the world that push the boundaries of film conventions. He chose five fillings.
The Balkan competition program "Return to Genre" was chosen by Croatian director Vinko Brešan, looking for films that rely on genre patterns or consciously and skilfully refresh them at the same time.
Prizes will be awarded in each of these three programs.
The competitive part of the program takes place in the Takvud cinema, tickets cost 500 dinars.
