The architectural event of the year 2025 is the "Amphitheater of Culture", a project Dr. Andrej Josifovski Pianist.
According to the Association of Belgrade Architects (DAB), it is an event of "spatial, socially engaged and interdisciplinary practice that places architecture in the field of public action and dialogue".
This award, recognition for an exceptional contribution to the development and affirmation of the value of the architectural culture of the city of Belgrade, was presented to Andrej Josifovski at the just concluded 21st Belgrade International Architecture Week - BINA, organized by Cultural Center of Belgrade.
The Society of Architects of Belgrade established this award in 2010, with the intention of focusing on an event.
A place of gathering and public address
Josifovski's project "realized during 2024 and 2025 through open-air classical music concerts, the project established a temporary but strongly articulated architectural scene on the edge of the city - Bežanijska kosa, with an auditorium oriented towards the city. With the rows of chairs, in the clear arched geometry of the amphitheater, the author forms a space that simultaneously possesses the functional, symbolic and formal qualities of architecture: a place of gathering, a place of meeting and a place of public address". it is written in the explanation of the jury.

The continuation of the explanation reads: "It is precisely in this simple but precise spatial gesture that the Amphitheater of Culture goes beyond the framework of an art installation and becomes a critical commentary on the state of culture and cultural policy in the city. The project points to the long-term neglect of cultural institutions, the absence of systemic support for artistic work, problems in the management of institutions, the cancellation and cancellation of programs, as well as the absence of a strategic relationship towards cultural spaces and their development. In this context, the work especially resonates in a time of institutional crisis, including the perennial problems related to the Belgrade Philharmonic and the question of its future building and management."
Triptych
In addition to the "Amphitheater of Culture" project, the jury listed the works of Andrej Josifovski as a significant contribution to the artistic and social activities of Andrej Josifovski. HIGHEST LEVEL i Lighthouse.
"Viewed as a unique triptych, these works, in the continuity of their individual creations, build a layered socio-critical narrative, which in the general circumstances of contemporary society, and especially in the specific and sensitive context of 2025, represents that Viril's critical space of public articulation of collective rebellion, resistance and the need for a cultural and social re-examination of reality," states the explanation of the award signed by architects Dr. Ana Niković (president of the jury), Dr. Jelena Bogosavljević and Dr. Nebojsa Antešević.
Artist Andrej Josifovski thanked the jury and dedicated the award to the "Faculty of Architecture and the collective, who have supported me all these years."
