Congratulations to the winner of the election are normally a matter of protocol and routine. But they can also be unpleasant, especially if the elections, to put it mildly, are not very democratic.
So Vučić is still waiting for congratulations from the West. He was congratulated by comrades Putin and Orban, and the international congratulations, if we are inclined, can also include Dodik, who circled number 1 in Banja Luka in front of the cameras, for everyone to see.
The European Union and Western countries are still hesitating and it is possible that there will be no congratulations to Vučić. But it is certain that there will be no open questioning of the election results.
The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Twitter that such elections - with vote buying and pressure - are "unacceptable".
But an experienced interpreter of coded messages from Western capitals knows that the election being "unacceptable" does not mean what the word literally means - that the election is not accepted.
Rather, it means another criticism of Vučić's "regime" in the style of "it's not very nice what you're doing there". After that, everything will continue as before - the West, driven by its struggles, will continue to work with Vučić because it has no one else to work with.
Reducing tensions
Vladimir Bilčik has already run to explain that the elections were not systematically stolen. The proverbial sharp Viola von Kramon offered the help of European parliamentarians in "mediation" between the government and the opposition in order to "calm tensions".
We note, therefore, not in order to repeat the elections, but, well, to "reduce tensions".
Because, what will tensions do to the West? The whole point of their policy is the so-called "stabilocracy" in the Balkans - just not to shoot. Especially while the war in Ukraine continues, they only need a secondary front.
Continuation of the previous game
Vučić is a hardened player who holds a canister of gasoline in one hand and a match in the other. With one rhetoric at home where he "snaps" at everyone, and with the mass of ammunition he delivers to Ukraine to please the West.
That tiresome game in which the European Union sells off values that are supposed to be heritage continues even now. And that after the devastating report of the OSCE observer mission and their claims that the electoral will, especially in Belgrade, was directly altered.
It is a sad fact that the EU powers put more pressure on Vučić to impose sanctions on Russia or recognize Kosovo than, for example, to allow free media and elections. in his country. It speaks of priorities.
And that is the answer to the question why joining the EU did not play any role in the campaign either. The pro-European column didn't talk too much about it either.
If this continues, we will soon be searching for someone in Serbia who still believes in "European values".
