Hitler offered the Germans a German superman (Ubermensch), the way out of misery and the highway. Germany ended up in ruins. Not because of getting out of misery and highways, but because of the superman. Comrade Stalin offered a better future. In that name, he killed some 20 million Russians and died peacefully. Comrade Mao Zedong also offered all kinds of things, especially the cultural revolution, which in terms of people, according to conservative estimates, amounted to about 40 million Chinese killed. And Slobodan Milošević offered a Serbian superman, so this is where we are now. Comrade Kim Jong Un is, in this sense, a little bit more honest: he offers a long and painful death if you don't worship him.
And what does the regime of Aleksandar Vučić offer? Well, Vučić himself.
Slobo's contract with the people
Slobodan Milošević fell because he broke the contract with the people. According to that contract, he could do whatever he wanted outside of Serbia, as long as the proud and beloved people were as safe as possible. And then, together with Aleksandar Vučić, Vojislav Šešelj, Ivica Dacić and the forgotten Tomislav Nikolić, he drew NATO bombers, tomahawks and cluster bombs on Serbia.
After that it was worth nothing. No terror, no murders of journalists and political opponents, no complete media darkness. The beloved people shook him off like a louse.
Land under a canopy
Milošević's Minister of Propaganda, Aleksandar Vučić, learned everything from Milošević, first of all to destroy the local media, then the institutions, and finally the entire country. But he also, quite suddenly, broke the contract with the beloved people: the reconstructed Vučić canopy fell on the people's heads on November 1, 2024 in Novi Sad, due to the corrupt actions of a regime based on corruption.
The breached contract was almost the same in both cases. At the time of the NATO intervention, anyone could get a missile in the head. Anyone can get a roof over their head today. Maybe the so-called people understand it a little harder, but when they understand, they understand. And nobody can do anything about it. Vučić's regime pulled reality from under the citizens' feet, and neither canopies nor the system can stand on illusion. They are collapsing
Or, to stick with the metaphor: Vučić squeezed all the contents out of the tube that he shamelessly stole, and now he would like to return the contents. The only thing he can't do.
The Boy Who Cried Wolf
So, in the days ahead, what else can the regime offer, should it not stay in power and continue looting the country for a while longer?
It offers violence against the most peaceful protesters in the history of demonstrations. But somehow it doesn't go through. It offers even greater violence, but it will be that there is no strength for it. It offers fairy tales from media under absolute control. Well, he offered fairy tales until now and that passed, but in the meantime, the canopy killed sixteen people, so people got a little wiser.
It offers a blatant lie. And he offered that until now, but he lied and intimidated a lot, brother, so his lies now produce the same effect as the howling "Wolf, wolf, wolf..." in that fairy tale about the shepherd who, in the end, ended up in the belly of a real wolf because, yes, he lied a lot, so no one believed him anymore. And the fairy tale about the unstoppable builder fell into fragments, along with the canopy of the Novi Sad Railway Station.
Therefore, he is left with EXPO and Belgrade on the water, combined with terror over the citizens, telling fairy tales, pounding the chest and mindless lying. But both EXPO and Belgrade on the water are opaque constructions that are reasonably suspected to be nothing more than mechanisms for looting of epic dimensions, besides, they take place in Belgrade, which Vučić, despite the opposition - it is quite clear - lost, as well as all major cities in Serbia.
He doesn't have so many thugs, black jeeps, and paid Ćaci who will patch up all the holes that, in the meantime, he made with his insatiable and unstable nature.
