CBS News' "60 Minutes" crew spoke with seven drivers TRUCKS in America who told them that the managers from Serbia of the company "Super ego" routinely cheated them and reduced their salary on account of additional insurance, benefits and repairs. The "Vremena" portal reported the research of CBS News, and on that occasion, a lawyer representing the company Super Ego Holding addressed the editors, denying the allegations in the text.
We are publishing the denial in full:
"The key inaccuracy is the misrepresentation of the company's business, as Super Ego represents itself as a carrier and part of the transportation system, including statements about drivers, safety and operational management. The company's actual business is solely the leasing of trucks and trailers to third parties without engaging, controlling or managing drivers, routes or transportation operations, with this company operating within the US territory."
Operational transport is performed by separate licensees carrier companies, which are independently responsible for their drivers and business.
Despite this, the Super Ego article links alleged "chameleon" transport networks, accidents and safety violations, although there is no basis or proof for such allegations.
There are also allegations of alleged exploitative (colloquial) treatment of drivers and employees, including allegations of exploitation, even though Super Ego does not employ drivers or operationally manage transport workers. In contrast, carrier companies, licensed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, perform the actual transportation of goods and bear full regulatory responsibility for their drivers, hours-of-service, insurance and cargo liability.
Independent owner-operators who may lease vehicles from Super Ego and other leasing companies operate under their own authority or under contract with carrier with the company of your choice.
The depiction of Super Ego as a firm associated with chameleon schemes is inaccurate and based on unverified and sensationalized information taken from a CBS News media report misrepresented as an eight-month investigation. CBS News did not publish the complete answers of Super Ego, nor the communication with their legal representatives in the right scope, but also reported the reduced information incorrectly, although clear and substantiated answers were submitted before the publication, which prevented objective and impartial reporting. Also, CBS News has a long-standing channel of communication with attorney Kalman Resnick, whose law firm represents the plaintiffs in the civil case against Super Ego in the US and who has repeatedly given interviews to CBS, which stands out as a circumstance that calls into question the impartiality and method of gathering information within the published feature.
Allegations about "chameleon companies", about violations are not supported by the evidence related to Super Ego, but the company is unjustifiably placed in a wider negative context without individualizing responsibility, while bearing in mind the title of this article as well as its context, it creates the impression that the subject is the responsibility of this company.
The company has no confirmed offenses related to the business.
The aforementioned text combines misrepresented activities, unfounded accusations about the treatment of employees and unverified claims about security risks, which creates a misleading picture of Super Ego Holding's business and seriously damages its reputation, including groundless linking it to security threats, which is completely contested. It is extremely harmful to put in the same context the business of the company Super Ego and the business model that endangers security.
The business of this company is fully aligned with the relevant legal framework."
