After the statement of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, that he will American sanctions on the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) will take effect on October 1, responded with a statement Croatia the company "Janaf", which in that case would be left without a large part of its income.
"Janaf received the license needed to continue the execution of the crude oil transportation contract concluded with the NIS company until October 1, 2025, and in the following days, through its American lawyer and with the support of the Government of Croatia, it will apply to the American Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) for the extension of the license," according to the announcement of the Adriatic Pipeline, Index reports.
The key to extending the license after October 1, 2025 will be the activities of the NIS company towards the American authorities, Janaf stated.
Croatian Economy Minister Ante Šušnjar said earlier this year that Janaf's loss of business with NIS would mean the loss of a good portion of revenue, but also an increase in costs, considering the storage of oil that could not be transported.
