With the explanation that they are needed to transport passengers to the exhibition locations EXPO 2027 by the end of this year, that company will announce the purchase of probably 50 electric buses.
This is evidenced by the latest changes to the Procurement Plan for 2025, adopted by the company EXPO 2027, in which it is stated that a public procurement for electric vehicles is planned for the fourth quarter of 2025.
Although it is not specified how many electric buses will be purchased, the portal eKapija writes that 50 of them are planned.
Who pays for what and who uses what
The construction of the infrastructure necessary to serve the "fair" lines, i.e. the installation of chargers for those vehicles and other necessary equipment, will be financed by the Ministry of Finance.
Chargers and other equipment that will be installed at the expense of the state will also be used by the Automobile Company Arrow from Obrenovac, which will serve part of the "fair" lines with their vehicles. It is planned that the batteries of the electric buses of that private carrier will be charged at the facility of the City Transport Company (GSP) in New Belgrade.
The Trade Union Center GSP recently warned that the company EXPO 2027 sent an official proposal to the City Administration of Belgrade to include Strela from Obrenovac for the transportation of participants, visitors, employees and volunteers at the international specialized exhibition in 2027.
New lines
It is estimated that for the needs of the exhibition from May 15 to August 15, 2027, 100 electric buses will be needed, which would operate on seven new lines and one feeder line.
Therefore, the company EXPO 2027 sent an official proposal to the City Administration Belgrade in which it stated that it is ready to finance the purchase of 50 capacitor-type buses for the needs GSP Beograd, and that the remaining number of 50 battery-type electric buses should be acquired by Strela, which would receive three new lines.
It is planned to establish lines EXPO 1 (Nikola Tesla Airport ‒ Terminus EXPO), EXPO 2 (Belgrade on water ‒ Terminus EXPO), EXPO 3 (Borča 3 ‒ Terminus EXPO), EXPO 4 (Wolf Monument ‒ Terminus EXPO), EXPO 5 (Ustanička ‒ Terminus EXPO), EXPO 6 (Novi Beograd Block 20 ‒ Terminus EXPO), EXPO 7 (Novi Belgrade Block 45 ‒ Terminus EXPO) and special feeder lines Railway Station ‒ EXPO entrances.
Of these lines, according to the union, Strela would get lines 1, 3 and 5, and in this case that private carrier would include 50 electric buses within the existing contract for suburban and local lines, where it performed in a consortium of related companies ASP Strela Ub, SP Lasta Beograd and ASP Lastra Lazarevac. After the end of the EXPO exhibition in 2027, 50 electric buses of that private carrier would operate on the existing suburban lines.
