Notary public the tariff entered into force on July 12, so from next week the citizens of Serbia will be forced to pay twice as much for some services all with.
Amendments to the Public Notary Tariff introduce new rules that increase fees and material costs for a range of notary services.
According to the new provisions, notaries are allowed to charge higher amounts through the so-called point system, where one point represents a certain monetary value.
The basic tariff for using the services of a public notary, instead of the previous 150, is now 180 dinars.
However, this change is only part of a series of specific changes that will especially affect those who conclude legal deals, inherit property or authenticate documents.
Some services now cost twice as much
In addition to the specific price of a point, the Ministry of Justice has also raised the number of points it follows to reimburse certain expenses.
"For documents on legal affairs and mortgages, the party is obliged to reimburse the notary public costs in the total amount of 8 points (and according to the old one it was 4 points), and for annexes to documents on legal affairs and mortgages, inheritance declarations, powers of attorney, consent of spouses and other statements in the total amount of 4 points (and according to the old one it was 2 points)", the new tariff list states.
The change in both the price and the amount of points has led to the fact that the fees, which until now cost four points for 150 dinars (600 in total), now cost 1.440 dinars (eight points for 180 dinars).
Also, for work that a public notary, at the request of a party, performs outside of established working hours or on non-working days and holidays, the award determined by this tariff is increased by 30 points for each hour started, but not more than 150 points.
"If the notarial document is drawn up for more than two parties, the award is increased by 10 points for the third and each subsequent party. If invited witnesses, another notary public, translators or interpreters participate in the drawing up of the notarial document, the award is increased by 20 points for each of those persons," says the Tariff.
There are also new awards.
More complex jobs get price frames. Thus, public notaries will be entitled to a reward of 200 points for drawing up a record of actual service, while for unilateral pledges they will be able to charge up to 50 percent of the standard reward, with the limit that the total amount does not exceed 4.000 points.
When notarizing a signature on a non-public document, notaries are now entitled to one point per signature, with an additional two points for material costs.
Certification of transcribed documents (copy or photocopy) is also charged at one point per page, while material costs are fixed at two points.
