The city government in Niš boasted last year about the arrangement of the "North 2" zone, emphasizing that it is becoming the "industrial heart of Niš" and announcing new investors.
However, what they did not "brag about" was that the cleaning of explosive remnants alone cost the citizens 22.860.000 dinars including VAT, and that the tender was won by a company known to the public for its closeness to the government and its connection with state projects and investments.
The Millennium Team came into the spotlight at the beginning of this year, when Crick announced that Minister of Finance Siniša Mali did not report to the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption that his brother was employed by the co-owner of this company.
The only bidder
The Millennium Team was the only bidder at the tender in Niš, and a month and a half after the conclusion of the contract, the Republican Center for Demining announced that they had performed the final inspection and determined that the work was done well.
During the realization of the Project, EOR were found on the ground: a 75mm caliber projectile, a 60mm caliber projectile and a 75mm caliber artillery shell grain - the Center stated.
As pointed out in the tender documentation, the suspicious area to be cleared was 13.759 square meters and it was assessed as suspicious because of armed war conflicts in the last century, because of the proximity of the airport that was the target of bombing and because of previous experiences and accidental finds of residual bombs.
The Administration for Local Economic Development and Investments was in charge of tender implementation.

In recent years, the Millennium team in Serbia was given tasks to clear the terrain of unexploded mines in other places, and in Niš it was in charge of preventive works on flood protection.
They were also given the jobs of reconstruction of forest roads, construction of a new stage for the Belgrade Drama Theater, construction of the Vračar pumping station for the Belgrade Waterworks and Sewerage, and within the consortium they also got the job of rehabilitating the Sava coast.
